Abigail Blackburn Appointed Editor of Now
Currently deputy editor of Connect sister-title Woman, Abigail will lead the 42-strong Now editorial team and report directly to publishing director Andrew Sumner.
Abigail joined IPC Connect in November 2005, as part of the development team for the successful 2006 re-launch of Woman.
Prior to joining IPC, Abigail worked in a variety of senior roles across some of the most famous brands in women's publishing, including the Daily Mail's Femail and Reveal (in the UK) and TV Week, Vogue Living and New Woman (in Australia).
Evelyn says: “Now is a huge brand, competing in a highly competitive sector. Having seen first hand Abigail's enthusiasm, creativity and focus over the last two years, I know she's the perfect candidate to lead the magazine's award-winning editorial team onto the next stage of Now's evolution.”
Andrew says: “Editing Now is, without doubt, one of the biggest jobs in magazines and in Abigail we've got an editor with a profound understanding of the women's weekly market, who's brimming with ideas to take the brand to the next level across all platforms.”
Now delivered an ABC of 470,290 in the latest round of ABC figures, while the title's daily celebrity news site, www.nowmagazine.co.uk, goes from strength to strength, capturing over half a million unique users and delivering over three million page impressions in January alone.
Abigail adds: “I am thrilled to be taking the helm at Now, the original celebrity news weekly. The woman's weekly market is my true passion, so the chance to edit such a fantastic brand and lead one of the most talented and experienced teams in this sector, is an absolute honour. I can't wait to get started!”
Abigail will take up her new role from Monday 10th March.
