IPC MEDIA APPOINTS KELLY WATERS TO ROLE OF WEB TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR
IPC Media digital director Neil Robinson today announces the appointment of Kelly Waters to the new role of web technology director across the IPC portfolio.
Formerly head of web solutions for leading online and print publisher Reed Business Information, Kelly will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of web technology capability across the business. He will manage the existing 50+ strong IPC Digital team, and report directly to Neil.
Neil says: “IPC's effectiveness in using technology is one of the critical pillars to our future success in web publishing and this new role will significantly increase our ability to deliver to the highest standard. Kelly's expertise, experience and proven track record in delivering flexible and effective web development solutions made him the ideal candidate.”
Kelly joined RBI in August 2006 and has since headed web development and product management across 18 markets, driving online growth successfully with a focus on innovative agile development techniques. With 23 years in software development and new media publishing, prior to RBI Kelly spent ten years with automotive specialist Glass's Information Services, latterly as chief technology officer.
Kelly says: “I'm absolutely delighted to be joining IPC Media as web technology director. IPC's leading consumer brands and strong online growth make it a very exciting company to join in this digital age. The web seems to be moving at an ever-faster pace, and I'm really looking forward to helping increase IPC's share in this space.”
IPC publishes a range of leading websites across all five of its divisions. The audited ABCe results for IPC Ignite web properties in June 2008 revealed major growth in unique users for all three brands. www.nuts.co.uk delivered a 121% year-on-year increase to 1,398,243, while www.nme.com unveiled a 107% year-on-year increase to 3,501,326 and www.loaded.co.uk delivered a 51% increase year-on-year to 311,610.
Other hugely popular IPC sites including www.housetohome.co.uk. www.marieclaire.co.uk, www.instyle.co.uk, www.whatsontv.co.uk, www.countrylife.co.uk, www.shootinguk.co.uk, www.nowmagazine.co.uk and www.goodtoknow.co.uk were joined in June by IPC's latest website launch, www.look.co.uk. Updated daily – and with a mixture of advice and user tips – the new site showcases the must-have clothes, and tracks down all the best fashion and beauty deals to ensure users get the latest celebrity look.
